ATOMIC CITY, Idaho – A series champion will be crowned after the sixth and final doubleheader of the season for the EQ Cylinder Heads Wild West Tour.
Who that champion will be remains under considerable contention heading into Friday and Saturday, Sept. 17-18 IMCA Modified events at Atomic Motor Raceway.
Defending champion Justen Yeager brings a skinny two point advantage over Zane DeVilbiss to town, while Ryan Cotrell lurks another six points back. Any one of the three can take the 2010 title home, but all three know there’s little margin for error when qualifying starts.
Top prize both nights will be $1,000 if there are 40 or more entries, which would make the event a qualifier for the 2011 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. The winner’s share of the purse will be $750 if there are 39 or fewer entries.
Pit gates at Atomic City open at 2 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 4 p.m. both days. Hot laps are at 6 p.m. with racing to follow.
Spectator admission is $15 for adults and $5 for kids ages 6-12, with five and under free. Pit passes are $25. Non-sanctioned classes on the weekend card are the street stocks, mini stocks and bombers. More informa–tion is available by calling 208 766-3478.
Ricky Alvarado has won three of the previous six EQ WWMT features at Atomic. Yeager, DeVilbiss and Metz are all one time winners there.
Cotrell leads all drivers with four tour victories this season. DeVilbiss has three wins to his credit, Yeager, Sample and Travis Metz one each.
