| xc | CALIFORNIA LIGHTNING SPRINT CARS FINALLY TO GET TO RACE AT BAKERSFIELD THIS SATURDAY!
Scott Daloisio May.10.2012 (Placentia, CA) After two rainouts earlier this season, the California Lightning Sprint Car Series will finally get to race at the Bakersfield Speedway this Saturday night, May 12th, when they take on Northern California's Bay Cities Racing Association (BCRA) in the Civil War. Spectator gates will open at 4:00 PM and racing will begin at 6:00. Also on the program will be Modifieds, Sport Mods, Street Stocks and Mini Stocks. Thus far in 2012 the CLS has contested four races. All four have been at the series home track, Perris Auto Speedway, and they had produced three different winners. Kevin Michnowicz, an 18-year-old from Lomita, won the first two races of the year. Former Palomar College football player Stuart Hielscher Jr. won the third race and longtime veteran Dan Hillberg of Placentia won the last race two weeks ago. All three will be making the trek to the "West Coast's Fastest 1/3 Mile High Banked Clay Oval" this Saturday night. Hillberg carries a 51-point advantage over Michnowicz heading into Saturday's race. Guy Maresch of Anaheim Hills ranks third, just three points behind the 18-year-old. After Saturday's race, the CLS will take a week off before returning to the famous PAS half-mile clay oval for the annual Salute to Indy with the USAC/CRA Sprint Cars and the PAS Senior Sprints on Saturday, May 26th.
